View Full Version : new maps
going to test out a couple of new maps on the server this weekend,
possibly saturday/sunday afternoon as the footy season is over and theres a vacuum to fill :(
so if anyones around say about 2pm or 3pm we will have a shufty round a few new maps
If you scoot over to [Only registered and activated users can see links] you'll see the top map download at the moment is Arnhem, it looks like a good one. Also in the top 10 is Stanjel which I noted The Wild Bunch were running the other night.
Also available from CODFILES is a map called Steiners German Town which is similar to Carrot town but bigger.
So there's 3 we could maybe have a look at for starters.

Stanjel is very good, they have that one on Jolt Custom maps and I really liked it.

Sounds like a great idea !
I look forward to it. 8)

good idea codfiles is a great place to get maps
[Only registered and activated users can see links]
ok stanjel looks easy enough as it appears in the maps already available in multiplayer
umm theres one here called Bigger Brecourt... might be worth a look at
the Arnhem one is not available for selection in Multiplay as far as i can see, so we would have to do some work to get it set up.. but its all do-able

Check out the "jolt.co.uk (10) custom maps" server - they have a good rotation.
These maps are ones the (ex) MRS boys :) have played & liked...
Stanjel, Offensive, Varaville - night-time extended version of Dawnville,
Nuenen, Second Coming, Bellicourt_Night, Viaduct.
Have a look here for downloads (might have to register first)
[Only registered and activated users can see links]
Just wish I could make a good map - some of them are very professional.
Agreed Villan there are some top maps out there. I've had Neunen for quite a while and I noticed that it's used in the Heat of Battle Mod that you can download here [Only registered and activated users can see links]
ok then, 4 maps we will test out over the weekend will be
Stanjel, Offensive, BiggerBrecourt and bellicourt
not sure what time is best for everyone on Saturday, maybe 1pm before the cup final or after it at 5pm or 6pm?
let me know

Yea maybe Joe can fill his paddling pool up qicker if we play that one 8O :D
I tried out Bellicourt yesterday for 20 mins on another clan's server. I have to say it's really good, with some great hiding places and sniping positions (eg top of the Church tower).
I also had a look at Offensive and Stanjel, but nobody was playing, so I just ran around seeing what they are like...both good IMHO.
I couldnt find a server active with BiggerBrecourt at the time.
Saturday should be fun ! Any chance it could be on in the evening/night Pup ?
If we enjoy them, and the consensus of opinion is in favour, could we keep them on rotation, at least for a while ?

all for it, please dont laugh at the following
do i have to allow mods in order to get these maps ? or should i double over to one of the sites mentioned to download first ?
is it all done automatically ? please dont tell me ive got to mess about with files etc.. cos my puter may never work again if i do. 8O
moving in depth of the enemy in order to capture and kill i can do 7 days of the week :) but let me assure you the the workings of the box to my left starts and stops at the on/off switch
Joe
Don't worry mate, it's quite straightforward.
Go to Codfiles and download the maps, which will be zip files. If you're running XP, then use the Windows zip file utility to unzip the files, or use winzip if you prefer. You could unzip them straight to the main COD folder or unzip to your desktop and then copy and paste the .pak file to the Main folder, which you will find thus:
My computer - C drive (hard drive) - programs - Call of Duty - Main
Give it a go and report back if you have problems, or chat it through on TS.
Good luck
Herr Wags
everything is possible mr Wagner
ok the members that would like to gather on our training server to have a look at the maps be there at about 5pm, if we like um and they dont crash the server ...then we can stick um on our public server for saturday night
Right folks ave had a good clean up around me Bunker and found the new maps, i've upload them all seperate or as one Zip file to [Only registered and activated users can see links] the map pack is MAPPACK1.zip.
for peeps that are unsure on how to add the maps read the README file i added with the MAPPACK
Best regards

Are there any decent maps which AREN'T set a town/village? I like Pavlov as it is urban but with open spaces (Besides Pavlov's 'house' was a real building in Stalingrad). The new maps are pretty but it's all turning into Generic-ville or Seen-It-Before-Town.
Bocage is a good example of something that adds variety to the tiresome run&spray format of all the others. Btw Is it possible to limit the number of sniper rifles?- If we could eliminate most of the point&click sniper tossers then I think maps like Hurtgen would be more popular.
I though Enemy Territory was rubbish but they had some good ideas for settings (e.g.The Train Gun & the Coastal Artillery Bunker)
you ask alot of questions but offer no answers... we are all quite busy folk, as i suspect you are, we are workin on new maps and stuff and as we get the time to test new maps and get the clans agreement that we like this map and we agree to put it on the rotation then thats what we will do over time
any positive imput is welcome
as a side line
i know trust and echo prefer other maps than the ones we mostly play now but i know they understand that for the sake of the whole clan they never complain cos they know we buildin a good clan here

we could try out " Univermag" that is an urban map with high places for snipers and for rifles :D
or even " St Petersburgh Seaport " adifferent map with a big crane on it :)

They sound good Echo :D ,by the way what became of
the Arnham map, anyone had a go of that on another sight :?:
It would be nice to try a few of these, when we have`nt got training to do.
And seeing as Joe`s away the squad can play 8O :D
Providing we all dont go A.W.O.L. :D
The Arnhem map (which looks good imo) will be added as soon as Multiplay add it their catalog (or summat like that).
In other words hold tight it's coming soon! :)
variety is the spice of life...........I'm really enjoying the new maps (Stanjel and Bellicourt), so drip feeding new ones as they are added to the catalogue is a good idea.
As an aside, I also find that going back to some of the old ones, that haven't been on rotation for a while, eg Rocket, revitalises ones interest in that particular map.

It makes me laugh when people talk like this. The way I see it, if its not a cheat, exploit or TK'ing then its perfectly acceptable. Even spawn killing! It was the same in MOH with people always complaining about players using rockets! Whats that all about. If someone is sniping you, blowing you up with a rocket, spraying you to death with a Thompson or killling you as soon as you spawn then as far as I'm concerned its your job to do something about it. As I say, as long as its not some form of cheat then anything goes. Treat it as a challenge and get on with it!

well said willo.
folks go on about "how realistic things should be etc..."
im happy with limits in clan games ie; 1 sniper etc... section weapon limits are realistic !
but ive never known any army to be polite about how they kill the enemy, death is death the fact you either got bored to death are blown to bits is by the by. we want realism in our games we got it :) (to a certain extent)
we carnt have our cake and eat it folks.

exactly....and r u telling me that if you ignore someone spawning they won't just turn round and kill you!!! Points mean prizes.....

Don't give *WUM's so much attention in future. It's more than likely somebody we know hiding behind a guest login who enjoys nothing more than attempting to cause uproar.
I'm not even going to answer the sad fcuk.
