If your due a trip to the petrol pumps, consider going to Asda, they have dropped their prices today making them the cheapest in the country:
* Unleaded: 87.9p
* Diesel: 92.9p
What they calling it, Petrol By George?

I thought about putting some veggie oil in my MG ZTT, maybe a 70/30 mix of diesel and chip fat. However before I tried it I spoke to the powertrain people at work and am glad I did. If you have a basic diesel engine your laughing. But mines got an advanced BMW Common Rail diesel in in it. And these types of engines have pressureised fuel injectors in them or something and the filters on them are very fussy, we're talking down to microns here. The veggie oil would kill it.
If however you have a regular diesel, get some veggie oil in it, it burns cleaner, its cheap, and it should work like a charm! There is no effect on performance or MPG. However in winter it tends to thicken in the cold and can cause problems, so a lesser mix is required, or preheating of the fuel.
Honestly I would love to try this, but I aint taking any chances with my engine. If I had a basic diesel though I'd defintely try it out at a mix of 70/30. Its supposed to smell quite nice too!

I aint going into this debate at all, as RFCRangers will confirm we have had 60 page debates on the topic on other forums with MANY ppl many many times over.
PPL do use it, they use it in good motors and shit, old and new... not convinced it would kill it, might just need a tweak or two. Wouldnt chance it in a decent motor myself tbh, then again, if i could afoard a decent motor i wouldnt be needing veg oil in the first place :p

Take it from someone who knows a bit about diesel fuel, not a good idea to put chip fat/veggie oil straight in to any diesel, common rail or standard injection.
It has to be treated first before it is any use as diesel fuel, to maximise the cetane number, distillation is commonly used or enzymes is another way of treating chip fat/veggie oil to make it suitable.
Higher the cetane number the better the mileage and the cleaner the burn and the less particulates out of the exhaust.
