Hi folks,

As this seems to be the place to put this, and I've just started a trial period for TR, I should maybe give a little background.

My name's Dan, I'm 38 and I live in Kent.

I got involved in the TR server through wags who in turn had joined a small games forum at [Only registered and activated users can see links] (excuse the plug), where I'm one of the admins.

I've only been on broadband and therefore online gaming a few months but as such my favourite game so far is CoD, and on the whole my fav weapon is a rifle (despite the fact I often die with it gripped uselessly in my hands).

I'm a support worker in a residential home for adults with learning difficulties, and work a fairly odd rota but I note that a bunch of you also work shifts so that shouldn't be too much of a problem.

I don't yet have a mic/headset (will get one soon) so you will still find me reduced to typing, but once I get teamspeak working I expect to learn a whole new vocabulary.

Finally as a matter of curiosity why "Third Reich"? I know that the majority of the clan are English with some posters/players also in Sweden, Germany and Spain. So why is that the clan name?

Hi Dan and welcome !
I'm pleased that you have agreed to trial with us and consider that your fast developing sharp-shooting skills with the sniper rifle will be put to good use !

I expect to learn a whole new vocabulary I'll warn you now that some of our members (Rab springs to mind) find it challenging to speak without using a string of 4 letter (and more) words...but you can always mute him in TS  It's generally a good laugh though !!!

on the talk of headsets i have just bought some which you can have a vibrate function on if you want.
rather fun if a grenade gos off near you. :D
i got them for 12.99 at a local computer fair.
going to turn the vibrate off when in teamspeak otherwise rab will ruin them with his multilingual vocabulary.

Please don't confuse the Forum membership with that of the Clan :D

We have Clan Members from 3 of the 4 Nations also from Sweden and most recently Holland

the actual factual reason of why the name Thrid Reich is a bit sad ... we wanted a german name and it was the only one we could think of quickly, though i was slightly opposed to it due to its nazi conotations (spelling) but then thought well its WW2 game and the third reich fought in it

we did once have a bit of trouble with our website provider some time ago about the name Third reich but as soon as we explained it was a gaming name of a clan and nothing more there was no problem

welcome onboard maggot, im sure you will be an asset to our clan

Thanks all for the nice welcome.

Nice to hear some voices to put to names in teamspeak (pardon my silence at the moment).

I notice the room splits into match, team 1 and team 2.....what do you use in practice etc?

I'll aim to join your sunday practice, though the match is less certain.

How long do matches and practice tend to last?

I bought these for a spot of UT2004 online gaming & boy are they flippin great or what.
They sound good without the bass vibration switched on but turn it on & the music n sounds just rumble away, shame I can't give em 10 Stars, worth every penny.!! And I'm not that easily impressed.
Someone said the leads a flimsy, I'd disagree, yes they are thin but then again we're talking about 3.5mm jacks.
I would happly have paid double the price for the quality... nuff said

Hmmm, well after my last game with you lot I shall be very careful about announcing my presence prior to opening fire as I feel quite outclassed.

This said the game evens up in my favour in smaller groups. It's in the frag fest that having a rifle becomes a distinct disadvantage.

I have finally I think cured the lack of format over the "tr" name thing sorted after a suggestion from pup (many thanks for that)

I've also grabbed a headset which I will hopefully try out tonight and see if it works etc. To be honest it was about the only one I could find locally and having got it home I found it was one of these things with a neck rest rather than an over the head do da. So I spent a considerable amount of time working out just how it actually sits on the head! :?
