Sorry you guys wont be around for a few dayz even weeks as my comp fecked up and no time to repair.
There were things going wrong left right and centre all added up then gave up the ghost.
It could be my mobo but i think windows has packed up again tbh.
If i tell er mobo i may get upgrade and get the amd x2 core while am there.
But seen as it is only over a year old asus socket 939 a8n-e will wait and see.
So stick in you may see me soon depending on the time factor.
i will pop in here as i still got the laptop.

Well i think i solved the problem on what it is.
The mobo as i flashed with the latest bios then it gave up the ghost.
so i was reading up and loks like i need to move jumpers on the mobo for the cmos or summin like that.
I know col is busy so will wait till he not then see what he thinks.
Know in my luck i will move the wrong thing and end up with no eyebrows.

just remove the battery from the mobo for a few seconds wipes the cmos
although if you have flashed with wrong bios cant see it making much difference tbh

Well i done the setup so it told me what bios i was needed for my mobo,Done that dowloaded it and flashed then thats when it fecked up.
So i might get away with removing the battery if i knew what it looked like.

Right update.
My mobo comes with a anti crash thingy ma boab.
Done what it says but i forgot to change the boot in the bios settings and it loaded straight into windows no probs.
So if it booting from the cd etc etc but not booting from hard drive after fresh windows install does this mean that the boot sectors in the hard drive are fecked or am just talking pish ,and clutching at straws.
The problem is that it says the comp will read the orginal bios and flash it if there is a corrupt bios etc etc but it didnt do it.
p.s i think the post should be moved to maggots section lol

if it went into windows then it must be reading from your hard drive
unless you meant went into windows install??

there was a revision of a bios for my mobo that was fucking stuff up and causing random BSOD and other such nonse.
To resolve the issue, go to the ASUS site and get an older bios file and get the old version of the BIOS update utility, it will allow you to downgrade, the new version doesn't(old floppy method is ok though).
If it aint that there is a good chance its that shitty Maxtor drive you have, I have nothing good to say about Maxtor drives and would personally bounce it off the wall, then emerse it in a bucket of petrol, set fire to it, then smash it the fuck up with a big fuck off hammer afterwards.

Then sell it to Maggot, let's face it it's not going to ruin his pc is it?

I've flashed many BIOS's and sometimes afterwards it can loose the drivepath. Reinstalling Windows will fox this. If its is POSTing or showing anything on the screen at all it should be ok, just in need of a format.
Also yeah, Maxtor are shit as. Its the only company I've ever heard of that had both hard drives fail in a External hard drive with two Mirrored hard drives. Thats rediculous, and they cost twice as much.
