Anyone watch Bad Lads Army last night? If not dont worry it was only the first one, there's another month to go. Its showing on ITV1 and ITV2 and I highly recommend it. Its basically a couple of truck loads of pond life that have volunteered to spend a month in a 1950's style army training camp, being authentically trained in an 1950's stylee complete with cough and drop medical exam.
It really is very interesting stuff. There are plenty of blokes in there giving it the big I am with attitude, especially one fella called Luke Brown. You can tell a lot of em aren't used to being told what to do and this experience is defintely the mother of being told what to do. Cant fault the real army sarg's Murray and Nauyokas or whatever his name is, very hard but fair.
I'm basically watching it to see how it turns out. Nauyokas seems to think they'll see a new side of themselves and have a little more respect for others when its over. Will be interesting to see if he's right.
From ITV1 site:
First in a new series following the format of 2002's Lads Army in which 30 troublemakers aged between 18 and 24 from different social backgrounds and areas of Britain are put through four weeks of 1950s-style military training and an education in traditional values in order to put their lives back on track. Corporal Murray and Corporal Nauyokas dole out the punishments, while footage is intercut with celebrities telling anecdotes of their own experiences undergoing National Service. In this edition, the lads arrive on base where skateboarder Scott Simpson immediately caves under pressure, and Luke Brown swears he'll beat the system. Narrated by Dennis Waterman.
