i mail pup an email which went a little like this:-
Hi
find attached a suggestion in ppt format.
After comments and requests for ideas last night, along with general:
"here" and "on the right" oh and "gun, tank thing" :)
i had an idea, please feel free to slap me down like the newbie i am but here it is.
instead of N,S,E,W we could use top, bottom etc
we can use the colours to refer to areas and so avoid any confusion as to where we need to be, or where the enemy are ie:-
"enemy in top of red building"
"sniper bottom left of green Trust nail that sucker" :)
"im in the pink house on the loo, protect my ass ill be back in 2 mins" :)
i dont know, just an idea these tactics may work better for S&D than TDM ?? but using T/S along with this who knows.
they print out fine and the actual building names show up well, after a short period of use these referance areas/names will become second nature ;)
what do you think? get the file from myself via e mail or im sure pup has it now
may your bullets fly true, and your steel helmet protect.

HI ITS RINCEWIND.
CAN I MAKE A SUGGESTION IF YOU PLEASE.
WHAT E.I.D DO IS ASSIGN CERTAIN BUILDINGS TO CERTAIN MEMBERS NAMES.
FOR US IT MAKES IT EASIER TO REMEMBER WHAT AND WHERE THE BUILDINGS ARE. ITS EASIER TO REMEMBER THE PERSONS NAME WHO U ARE PLAYING WITH DAY IN AND DAY OUT.
THEN IF YOU SEE THE ENEMY ENTER A BUILDING YOU CAN SAY , FOR EXAMPLE " RINCEWIND THEY ARE RAIDING YOUR HOUSE AND SO ON AND SO ON.
LIKE I SAY, IT WORKS WELL FOR S&D WHEN A BIT OF STRATEGY IS INVOLVED, AND IS USEFULL IF YOU WANT SOME-ONE TO GUARD A CERTAIN BUILDING.
THANK YOU PLEASE
umm interesting tip
the more i think about it the more i like it
we shall discuss
thanks rince

l thought a good idea would be to
have the printed out of the maps and createing a grid like in BF1942
has a Grid system
so on the left side of the printed out map will have A B C D E F G and the top an bottom will have 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8
so when telling a player about where the other team is or player it will be just a case of A3 or D8 or using it like D3-2 for 2 players G9-1 for on player
:P
failing that the maps already have names of the buildings marked on them don't they? I seem to recall the 2 storey building on Dawnville at the top of the street that also backs onto the railway being "The Hotel" I'm sure that one of the houses further along the street is a "post office" as well.
All good suggestions though boys and girls and worth trying out. :)

Guys
The maps ive done and sent to pup are those as mentioned by echo.
All ive done really is draw different coloured circles around areas/building, the original names for places remain and can be seen, using ppt.... So you can edit etc as you see fit and have them 1 per A4 page or 2.
have a look at them if its not what we want as a group no probs.... :)
e mail me and ill post em to you, or i think pup was on about putting them on this site ?
Big_Joe
they have been added to the download section
thanks big joe
tho i do think rinces idea of areas belonging to members is a really good one, makes it very easy to remember if its personal like... plus if no one runs to your house wen ya in trouble ya know no one likes ya hehe
All well and good but baggsy having the Chateau as my gaff!
I might even throw a little party there after the next match.
Bring your own bottle and a nade for the host! :D
I'm now going to load down the maps print em and have a good shufty.
I can definitely recommend downloading the maps (you do need a colour printer though).
Well done Big Joe great idea! With the different coloured areas. For instance at Brecourt a quick glance at the map it will be easy to see where somebody is with a simple "I'm in the trench in Orange sector and can see enemy camped in the ruins in Blue and Green sector" and with info like, I'm in the post office at Dawnville does anyone need any stamps while I'm here? I reckon we can't go wrong.
Anything that can give us the edge over the opposistion must be worth while agreed?
I'm willing to try it out anyway.

I think Russ has a good idea as does Rince.
The only thing is trying to remember which area is ,green ,orange etc, 8O should not be too hard just a case of remembering which colour for which map.
Grids are fine ,and very easy to follow, only one thing worries me, :? if we have to keep refering to colours or grids,by which time we could be brown bread. as things do get heated in combat.
Still I think we should try it ,and see which method works best.
I know I`m a newbie ,but I think it`s important to have everyones view on this,or as many as possible.
Someone might come up with, something we have not thought of.
