I would have thought you need to wrap them in tissue paper and store them in an airtight container. Moisture and fire are what you need to guard against.
There might be something in the ink/paper which will degrade over time anyway.

BTW why would a pocket need a hammock?

Best way to keep them:

Dont handle them much as the oils/acids in fingers will start to ruin old paper as the old papers contain no stabilizers, usually starts with brown stains and black spots.

You can get document wallets to keep them in but they are not the standard type, there are specialist types for keeping such items in that won't effect the paper.
I did buy some many moons back but have lost the address for the supplier, I use them for storing WW2 invasion banknotes and Japenese occupation notes etc.
If I find it address, will post but a search on tinterweb is likely to throw up loads of companies that do old document protection wallets/covers.

If I remember correctly you can get acid free backing card to put them flat on and the clear plastic wallets/sleeves are made from polyester.

8) lo rince, thanks all for your advice, i never really thought about preservation, they've just been sitting at the top of my wardrobe in a poly bag, presumably they are of some interest in our old 'empire' days. 8O

good advice kingy, special pastic document wallets sounds the best way

dont wrap them in normal tissue paper as it contains acid/bleach which will have a bad effect on the papers
