I realise that these may have been around for a while but I've only just seen them so I thought I'd flag them up here as potentially interesting/fun.

google sketchup is a small (well 32mb) prog that you can use to create 3d buildings etc. I've not done much more than glance at it (cos I've got to go to work in a mo :( ) but it looks kind of fun and if you want you can add your finished designs into google earth if you want to be extra sad :p

Inkscape is a free vector graphics editor and again I've only messed around with it a bit but it seems to have a good potential to it with a bit of study.

You sussed out Sketch up yet maggot? I was interested in having a play, but it looks a bloody nightmare to me.

I haven't played with it much yet willo, though the tutorial looked pretty straight forward. Bear in mind this is the free version (there's a £400 version too) so it should be pretty limited and you should probably check there's a way to print/save your finished pieces first or there might be tears later.
