That was pretty cool! Anyone got a video camera? We should make one of those in Blackpool.

Everything gets banned these days if theres the slightest chance someone might sligestly disagree with it. What happened to common sense?

actually it would have been banned here cos it was shooting in trainstation/underground.... it would have been considered "in bad taste" after the July? incident

i dont think it would have gone down well with that brazilian boys parents who got shot at the train station.

So how come we play a cod2 map called trainstation?

Banning this is overkill.

The mere fact that everyone "held" a recognisable gun that kids use all the time when they've nothing better, and the fact that it was obviously pretend (even down to waiting for the end of a phone call).

It's silly to ban it.

Also, damnit, it's funny.

It is in our control if we play the game or not, it is rated as violent and not for kids.

TV adverts are not in our control, we can choose to watch or not to watch, the content is unknown to us. Technically that advert had not violent conduct and could not be limited in any way, so it must have been banned for the reason i gave above.

I'm not saying that's not why it was banned, I'm just saying it's over reaction.

it is rated as violent and not for kids

Yeah, cause kids are never violent, never play soldier games or use guns in play. My point is that the mere fact that if I pointed my hand in that "gun" formation at any child - he would know what it meant.

It's the same line of thinking that removes "fuck" from films and replaces it with either a gap or "fool" or something else that is acceptable. It's such a waste, because anyone watching the film knows what was removed.

If anything the advert goes the other way, reinforcing the pretend that comes in all childrens play, no one dies, no one gets hurt, the noise is all from words and the whole feel is about everyone suddenly joining in to this pretend world.

To me this is knee jerk censorship.

wouldn't say knee jerk... would say dynamic, taking into account current situations.

Think the days of kids running around with toy guns are well gone... can hardly buy them anywhere.

They talking about banning air rifles now.... we used to run around with them all the time (14+yo) and no one batted an eye lid, didnt even look twice if they say you walking round the streets with it... all the cops used to say "you better no be shooting windows with that".

Are you talking about airguns with the shooting windows comment? I thought you needed a licence for an airgun? Would have asked for one for Christmas if I'd known otherwise!

10-20 years ago the fun/childish/play element would have been in everyones mind in that no one had real guns and the advert wouldnt have been a problem i guess

i thought it was a fun advert but only cos i was thinking back to my childhood

not appropriate for todays world though
