Infinity Ward answer to anti-cheat program

For those who haven't seen this.

This came in my X-Fire newsletter which I get even though I don't use X-Fire.

Question - Will Call of Duty 2 have anti-cheat protection?

Answer: The shipping game has Pure servers and Killcam, which helps reduce and spot any cheating. We'll review the process and monitor the game to see if there is any need for added support. If anything were to arise, we will address the issues to keep the game cheat-free, fun, and competitive.

iwboon: re anti-cheat - We're keeping an eye on that. We have 2 petitions here from Call of Duty 1 - the first petition is begging us to add Punkbuster. The second petition is from after we added PB, and it's begging us to remove it.

Presumably the second petition was from the cheaters?! haha

Mind you the smoothness of COD 2 is more than likely due to PB not constantly scanning for the cheats it knows of which is anyway only the tip of the iceberg.

I got number 7302 when I signed the petition and I'm willing to bet the 'for' lobby is bigger than the 'against'.
Lets hope they heed us again, how many patches were there before PB was included?

I really hope they dont screw this game up by adding NO anticheat of some sort, Yes there will Always be cheats, but if they stop 10 out of 20, its 10 less we have to worrie about we all know Pb was not 100%, but it did show how many were willing to cheat and how many global bans were given out?? ...
they were all losers who dont deserve to own a pc never mind cod alone :lol: :lol:

Villan the for and against petitions referred to in the interview are the lobbying for and against it for the original COD.

They probably know about the new one but won't of received it officially yet.

Where are you from Pluto? Good to see a new poster on here btw.

It was a good while before vanilla Cod got PB at least 2 months if not more after the release.
