multiplay appears to be down totally
servers are not running
teamspeak is not working
the website aint working either
can they get nothing to work :?:
yep, their big server in the sky must be broken
Not all Multiplay servers are down which strikes me as being odd, but maybe they use different servers, ports, gateways or hubs etc (throws in a few techy words in the hope of getting away with it) for different clans.
Just a few thoughts:
I still think that we should consider shaking ourselves loose from the Multiplay shackles and find a server provider who puts the paying customer first and is willing to allow us access to all we want (log files, new maps etc) without having to ask for permission the whole time.
Also do we really need 2 servers? When we aren't on our Public server it's for the main part empty anyway. We have plenty of members to pay for 2 servers if it's still thought vital the we need more than the one.
well its up for discussion as always echo but here are the advantages from my side
its cheap and we can afford it at the moment
it makes the admins job easier as it can be set and left for training purposes.. such as the PAM mod or other mods required by various ladder matchs, leavin the normal server free to be what we want it to be
people join our normal server and get uninterupted enjoyable play, and hopefully they put us in their faves and return again and again
we dont have to kick out our regulars (ie potential new members) when we have a match or training... it really is not nice closin a server when its full, i hate doing it
i dont have to spend time and energy doing announcements in the console ' this server is going to close in 20 minutes because we are havin a clan match or training
the match/training server can be set days in advance of a match so we all get a chance to join it make sure the settings are right
we can leave a clan match/training and join our normal server which mostly is full, so that we dont have to spend time and energy sending out invites in all seeing eye to get players back in
but yes i agree, we have no loyalty to multiplay and lookin at other providers is something we should do on a regular basis

i just dont believe it!
i get us a friendly game going and what happens?......shite. thats what happens.
told me new mate from BM that ts was down and so will discuss a match for a later date.
one advantage about having 2 servers that you missed pup is that it makes TR look like the dogs dangly bits, and stands us with the rest of the crowd.
shitty shity ts , evil ts!

tryed TS and the game server at 2:34am seems to be working fine now
Point taken re 2 servers, that satisfies my curiosity.
If I could be party to the total Multiplay costs including what paying for our own TS room would/could cost if we were to move then I can take a look at what other companies have to offer and publish my findings here.
We have plenty of members so maybe paying a touch more than we do today shouldn't hurt us that much especially if we got the kind of stats that =CWS= get.
no problem ech0
the normal server is a 30 person server, open to the public and is debranded, this costs £64 a month
the training server is a 20 person server, and is not a public server and is not debranded, this costs £37 per month
so that totals £101
teamspeak is about £10 a month extra i believe ...

Perhaps we should start by asking =CWB= who they are with and how much they pay. I think stats are well worth having, defintely very interesting and good fun!
I know who* they are with but not how much they pay. I'll ask tonight or when I next see my contact there.

They sound quite good if their banter is anything to go by. Apparently their bandwidth is truly international, which must be a relief to those of us who dont live in the UK. And there was me thinking the internet was regional!
They mention something interesting in the info about servers:
The ability to run two Game Server process
Sounds like we could run two instances of the game with our one server. Not sure about this so I've mailed their support people. The server is £105 though so it sounds about right. TS is extra again, and quite a bit more expensive. 20 quid for 32 slots or something stupid like that.
