Been reading the EA forums about the issue of stuttering,which I must admit I do get from time to time,on all servers running PB,yet went to a server today with no PB,and it was as smooth as anything.So they reckon it could be a PB
problem.

No need to worry Rince....it's all good, clean, family fun and I am still as sane as I was 2 weeks ago (apparently). You should throw away your prejudices and have another wee go.

I was certainly willing to chuck the disks out the window last week, when I was having so many problems. However, it runs fine now and the latest patch has helped. It is really rather enjoyable now that I have discovered the 'squad' set-up. Also the fact that you get rewarded for team-play and supportive roles rather than just 'kills' is most welcome. It'll certainly keep me amused as an alternative to COD, until COD2 comes out !!! :wink:

Shifty, what rank do you have to be to unlock the first super weapon, only I hit private 1st class last night and still cant unlock or is there a special way of unlocking the new weapons or do you get the unlock when you reach the dizzy heights of Lance Corporal ?

Yes I'm in a BF2 clan now Wags, but I dont actually know what the IP address is (I couldn't tell you what TR's IP address is actually, I rely on good old ASE). They seem a nice bunch, but they are a bit chaotic - which is probably down to the fact they are a newish clan and most members have only just joined! Its made me realise what a sterling job the do'ers in TR do.

Haha! 9.30 - 10.00 is normally when I like to get off-line. But if your defintely up for a some BF2 action I'll make an exception.

Anyway I'll contact them tonight and see what there doing. Theres one guy called 'Hailo' (who sounds a bit like Big Joe) who I enjoy playing with because he does a great job of commanding a squad, I'll see if I can get him to play a few rounds with us.

If not I normally try for a Multiplay server by typing 'Multiplay' into the server filter box. But that might be a problem if anyone else wants to join us (if Kingy, Shifty, Spitty... ect). One server that does spring to mind is called something like OAP|???????????. I've been on it a few times and its always performed faultlessly and isn't normally full. I'll try and find it again.

Yes you need to get Lance Corporal Kingy. It will tell you in game when you reach that qualification. When you do you will need to disconnect from the game, logout, and then log back in again. As soon as you log back in it will award you with Lance Corporal formally, and then present you with the unlock option.

I've unlocked the weapon on the Assault class (G3 I think) because of its high damage and high accuracy which I favour in my weapon of choice (think BAR in COD). But I've not been that impressed by it so far (not used it enough to know for sure though). I'm wondering if I should have gone for the British rifle you get with Medic class instead. I've been told it has a better zoom on it than the one you get on the basic Sniper class! But on the downside the damage it inflicts is only medium.

Its Thursday and Mel is off out tonight so I'm bang on for a game of BF2 or two. So if your still up for it Wags, Shifty, Spitty and anyone else who fancies a game, we'll have to meet up after any training or matches for a game.

Excellent, I think Villan and Envoy are interested too so if everyone turns up we should have enough to form a full squad. I'll be squad leader and become a mobile spawn point for the team. My job will be to stay slightly back from the action so you guys can respawn where the action is and keep up the pressure on flag captures.

This should avoid excessive running around the map chasing flags. And because we'll be working as a team we should do well and cream the public!

I'll need someone to volunteer to be a medic to resusitate me if I get hit, and avoid to much spawning back at bases. It doesn't have to be the same person all the time, but its important we have at least one medic at all times. The rest of the time players should be prepared to change classes if and when needed depending on whats going on.

And most importantly of all, everyone should stick to the objective in hand and not wonder off from the team. It is more fun and effective if we all stick together.

That is the way to do it ,Willo.I`ve been a medic so dont mind doing the job for a while.
I would also sugest we have a Antii tank person,and possibly a support person as well,this should give us a lot of firepower.
Also you only get 6 to a squad,lets hope we can find a server that can take us. :D 8O

Hopefully Envoy will join us, and I think he likes doing the anti-tank bit. I was thinking of being the support person myself as I kind of like the heavy machine gun you get. But then I really like the grenade laucher on the assault class... But I'll do the support role as we'll need one to keep supplies up.

You left quietly! We were I was on till about 12, dont know what time Spitty, Shifty and Wags played for. I'll be on again tonight if anyone is interested, no time limits either.

What weapon did you unlock Wags? I've heard the medic is a good choice, but you might have other ideas. I personally went for the Assault class machine gun, but wasn't that impressed with it. Its powerful but I prefer having the grenade launcher handy which you get with the normal assault gun. You can take out buggies full of bad guys with that in one shot! Which always make be chuckle when someone tries to run me down in one, you just stand still so they come directly at you (to make the shot easier) and pop off a grenade when they get close enough that your not going to miss and thats the end of the buggy!

It was a real hoot last night....once we'd overcome the hurdle of finding a suitable server, that is !

Shifty and I stayed on until about 12.45 or thereabouts...the time sure did fly past ! I haven't checked to see what weapon was unlocked. I'll look later.

You get to choose your own unlock, or defer until a later time. I saw a post somewhere earlier that described how to unlock the other weapons in the single player game. Might be worth trying that before you choose your online unlock so you can find the weapon thats right for you. I dont know if thats considered cheating or not, but I dont think it will do any harm as you'll still have to work hard to unlock stuff in a MP environment.

It was a good laugh guys,I certainly ebjoyed it.
Me and Wags were on till late.I went to another server when Wags left,and joined a squad full of yanks,we played well though.Did`nt stop the fragging till 3am,then the eyes started to go. 8O 8O :D .

I've only used it on a couple of maps, but it seems quite useful.
Actually, I quite like playing as a medic as you can really enhance your score by 'healing' and 'reviving'. Infact on Sunday evening I got top medic scores on two maps in a row and best 'team-work' score.....which is nice (well it's better than my combat score anyway !!! :wink: ).

We must arrange another session soonish.

Yeah I wish I had unlocked that now. I may well unlock it when I reach Lance Corporal with my DI profile. That said I also Fancy unlocking the Spec Ops weapon class as I use the Spec Ops class quite often and could do with beefing it up. But then again I use whatever class suits the current conditions so its a difficuly choice.

Yep, defintely up got another game this week. Envoy fancies a bash too. Might not be able to play tonight because we've just (last night) put up a bloke from Italy. So I dont think it would be polite to disappear into the cellar to play games the first evening he's here. Tomorrows OK though, I dont mind breaking the social mores then!

If your interested, I could try and setup an organised game with some of the DI clan and get you into there TS server on Wednesday or Friday perhaps (dont want to mess up COD training on Thursday).

Willo, playing on your clan server sounds cool to me. Tomorrow evening is no go for me though, as I am invited by one of my clients to see Kent v Warwickshire (cricket) in an evening match (I'm only there for the VIP dinner and wine :wink: you understand). Satdee might be problematic as we play the Global Conflict war on Satdee nights. Its a 6 hour battle fest on a 64 man server setup by some Americans. We form one or two squads and usually take respondibility for a spawn point or two. Its all very well organised and can be really good fun, but a few people are getting pissed off that the Americans are introducing more and more rules and taking it way to seriously, so we might be pulling out.

Anyway, I'll try and get something sorted for Thursday night after training then. Say about 9pm?

We went onto the =DI= server, but the config was all messed up and the chap that normally sets it up (DI's version of Col) couldn't figure out how to fix it properly so we ended up on a public server.

I checked in TS for you a couple of times, but you weren't there! I also left Messenger on so you could contact, but because I didn't see you or hear from you I thought you'd changed your mind.

How about another game next week?

OK, finally I got this thing reinstalled and, fingers crossed, stable (ie not crashing the system with BSODs), so maybe on one of these occassions I can hook up with you guys for some BF mayhem.

Done that Wags - it was either the 1.1patch or my old usb headset causing the Bsods I think.

I had a little toodle around on a server trying to work out whether they'd sorted little things like all enemies as Red whichever side you were playing for....I'm right that that's still the case aren't I?
