grrrrrr

ok there are quite a few of us (8 i think without checking) who contribute to server costs via nochex. Nochex has always been free to send and receive nochex to nochex account, thats why its been our prefered method of payment

However as from June 16th Nochex has decided to copy Paypal and will start charging me 20p plus 2.6% of the amount for each payment i receive from you. Then when i send full payments over to The Furher they will also charge him 20p and 2.6% of the amount for receiving it.

This is a pain in the ass, as from my rough calculations they will end up taking approximately £15 from us for those 8 member payments.

not sure what to do, obviously i can ask everyone to pay me by cheque in the post but i still have to nochex it over to the fuhrer incurring those charges

paypal is no good cos they charge about the same

there are still free online payment services available but that would mean us all setting up new accounts at say:-
[Only registered and activated users can see links]
or
[Only registered and activated users can see links]

not sure of the best way to deal with this, payments cannot be sent straight to odin as he does not have the time to keep track of whose paid, when payments are due, send out reminders or update the paid members section.

if we cant think of another way and if our membership stays roughly the same then payments by nochex might have to have £1.50 added to cover nochex charges GRRRR

just be warned if you use nochex to receive payments that as from june 16th if you receive any payments in nochex you will get charged 20p plus 2.6% of the amount

If it comes to cheques I'll send the extra 1.50 in Paypal because I cant be bothered with that malarky! Would it help if I collected off Envoy and Villan and Paypal three lots of subs to you? Perhaps at three monthly intevals to save that extra bit more?

bit crap is that... what about collection 6 months in advance and paying by personl cheque or in willows idea where he gathers from a few and sends as one for 6 month.

6 months is a fairly long period and £30 is fair amount to some, so i dont suggest we do this tomorrow or the next day, but consider it for the next time we are all due to empty our pockets, giving us all all good warning in advance of whats what.

This time scale of payment has more benefits than just avoiding nochex burdens and the wasted time remindin each other... it also gives us more stability over what we can do/buy as well as offering us being able to achieve better discounts.

Just an idea... comments please

im fair go with anything. but in the end all of these paying through the inter-net companys are bound to charge more, the more people use them.
it dosnt bother me, i will just ask my rich daddy for a rise in my allowance, say a couple of grand a week. :D
really though ill go with the majority here but dont fancy the cheque idea much.
as they say , "nothing in life is for free"

I've got a lottery ticket from Saturday in my wallet Trust. If its the jackpot ticket and I've won a few million dont worry about your next £30 payment, I promise to put 10% towards it for you!

Hows that?

Dead generous me!

I pay by cheque (3 monthly) which I post to pup in advance of the due payment date. I personally find this to be a very acceptable and straightforward way of dealing with things.

Pup, if you want payments 6 monthly and that eases your administrative tasks, then of course that's fine by me :)

im happy to make up the odds as cheques are a pain in the ass and i dont have a bank account :)

isnt this just for people wanting to use nochex without them having an account?

the admin isnt too bad now we have gone to 3 months payments so thats not a problem

although i do agree with cols point about stability and being able to plan more for the future, i think maybe 6 months ahead might be a bit too much, especially for new members. Plus this might bring up issues of people wanting refunds if they leave before teh 6 months is up.

i think maybe it would it be fairer for everyone to pay £16 for 3 months whether they pay by cheque, cash, nochex or paypal, because even cheques or cash end up being nochexed over to the fuhrer by me

obviously if we get member numbers up to about 24 or more then there is no issue with nochex charges as that should be enough contributions to cover the 2 servers and teamspeak and all the charges

i don't think i have heard it mentioned yet, but hows about setting up direct debit - most people will have bank accounts, yeh - just get some DD forms - though i don't think set-up over t'internet is particularly safe

suggestions?
