Just thought I would pop in, and wish all of you a very merry christmas, and have a great time, I'm working right the way through it.
I know I have not been around for a long while, but that is down to my right eye, as of late I have had real problems with it.
As most of you know 2 years ago I was attacked at the hospital, and had to have laser surgery on my right eye due to 3 tears in the retina.
Some time ago my vision in the right eye started to get blurred badly, thats why I had to stop playing in the clan.
To cut a long story short, a week ago I finally got to see a retina consultant.
They done tests,scans etc.
I was then told by him that I now had only partial sight in the right eye, and due to the trauma of the attack my retina has now got a hole in it, this is what is causing the blurred vision.
I now have to go into hospital for a 2 hour operation in about 4 months time.
If I dont have the op then I will lose the perifial sight completly, so I have no option.
To seal the hole in the retina they put a mixture of gas and air into the eye.
The mix makes this lighter than air, so for 10 days after the op I have to remain face down 50 minutes of every hour, and that includes sleeping.
This pushes the mix against the eye, and so acts like a bandage.
The gas takes 12 weeks to disperse in the eye, vision is a constant blur.
My sight will not be back to normal until 5 to 6 months after the op.
There is a 90% success rate for the op.
I will be off work for ages, I cant go out either, I'm gonna be bored outa my skull.
Thing is I have also been told although the op will save my sight in that eye, 2 years later I will need another op, as the first op causes a cataract of the eye, seems as though I cant win either way.
So I'm not looking forward to next year at all, as most of it is already mapped out for me.
I do play Guild Wars online, as thats a lot slower, and I dont need as much eye movement, my eye can cope with that, but it's not a patch on COD for the action, and fun.
Plus I miss all you lot screaming at one another ingame.
I apologise for not posting on here before, and letting you know about it, but it has really got me down of late.
Although I work for the NHS I have had no help from them what so ever, and this has really made me angry considering the years of service I have put in.
On a happier note, I do hope you are all keeping well, and will have a great Chrimbo, and New Year.
I'm gonna get myself a laptop, so hopefully if I'm facedown I will be able to use that, providing the surgeon says I can.
All The Best to You, good luck in the killzone.
Speak to you soon.
